Things To help You Sleep

You are reading this because you have not slept for days now you are at your wits end and need some help. Not getting sufficient sleep can be a plague on your quality of life but don’t despair, as it is possible to overcome your and benefit from some well known tips and other things to help you sleep.

The following list gives some tips to help you get a good nights rest:

  •    Have you tried a sleeping aid?

Natural sleeping aids can be very effective solutions for some people and may well be worth a try. There are many sleeping aids on the market and the ones to consider are made from natural ingredients and sold at the pharmacy,  not the strong sleeping pills prescribed by a doctor.

  •   Try Not To Oversleep

After another dreadful nights sleep, or should I say, lack of sleep it is quite tempting to over sleep in the morning or to nap during the day to make up for the lost sleep. However, it really is important to keep to the routine of getting up at exactly the same time every day otherwise you risk upsetting your body clock. Avoid napping during the day and go to bed at the same time each night if possible.

  •    Exercise More During The Day

This tip is quite important because people who suffer from regular insomnia are known to be less active during the day. So, try to be more physically active in the afternoon by going for a brisk walk, swimming, jogging or even gardening.  Go for a walk in the evening if it’s not possible in the afternoon as this will help you to relax and unwind you in readiness for the night ahead and don’t forget a nice warm bath just before you get into bed.

  •   Unwind, De-stress and Relax

If you find that you are getting anxious and stressed about things in your life then try to introduce things like yoga, reading, music or breathing exercises into your daily routine. These activities will help take the focus away from any worries you may be experiencing and help you to soothe and relax you.  Using a visualization technique, try to  imagine that your worries are drifting far away and then, starting from your feet, imagine that they are relaxed then start moving up to the muscles in your legs, then your thighs and up through your body and continue to imagine that these muscles are thoroughly relaxed, limp and relaxed.

Finally, a few more things to help you sleep and techniques to help you relax are:

  • Adopt a healthy diet as the right nutrition will help you cope with stress.
  • Enjoy a great sex life.
  • Try to accept what you have no power to change.
  • Learn to assert yourself by saying No occasionally.
  • Take one day at a time and don’t worry about things that may never happen.
  • Have positive thoughts about your health and well being.
  • Do something enjoyable regularly – you deserve it!
  • Try to exercise more often during the day because it releases hormones that make you feel contented.
